living with God

Word: Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young—a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in
your house; they are ever praising you. (Psalm 84:3-4 TNIV)
Wonder: Get the picture in the passage. A worshiper in the magnificent Jewish temple in Jerusalem notices that birds have built their nests in it. However, instead of that sight becoming a distraction to him or something disturbing, it prompts his devotion to, and worship of, God. Today, as others notice your ways in life, would they have reason to observe and comment about you: “Now there’s someone who dwells in the house of the Lord?”

Wonder: Get the picture in the passage. Long ago a worshiper in the magnificent Jewish temple in Jerusalem noticed that birds had built their nests in it. However, instead of that sight becoming a distraction to something to disturb him, it prompted his devotion to, and worship of, God.

The bird in the picture above is one of the many purple martins that make their nest beside the building of the Missouri Street Church of Christ. Today, as others notice your ways in life, would they have reason to observe and comment about you: “Now there goes someone who dwells in the house of the Lord?”
