Word: “… ‘people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.’ If they have escaped the world’s filth by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but find themselves caught up in it and covered up with it all over again, they are worse off than they were at the the start. They would have been better off not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. There are proverbs that speak truth about such people: “Dogs lap up what they throw up,” and, “A freshly washed pig goes right back to her mud wallow.” (2 Peter 2:19b-22)
Wonder: Dumpster-diving isn’t allowed for disciples. Why, having coming to know the Lord, do we often find our trashy old ways attractive? What things help keep you from climbing back into cast off ways of living and keep you living for the Lord?
