leading the parade

“A new generation of families is coming to our churches formatted to our needs and tastes. Now it’s the younger generation’s turn. What’s more, as we grow older, we should become more graceful and less legalistic, more nature than childish, more ingratiating rather than selfish, more magnanimous rather than territorial, more desirous of reaching the next generation of families rather than being wrapped up in our spiritual turf wars. We grandparents are the ones who should be leading the parade in formatting our churches to reach the generation that represents our grandchildren. We should especially be outspoken in our desire to see the style of worship adapted to connect to the younger families.”
