A painful commute

When Jim graduated, he got his first job in the big city. The drive was long, tedious and traffic-congested. To boot, he had to pass through a very long, narrow, two-lane tunnel on his way to work. It was always a terrifically stressful point to him! To help alleviate this stress and the boredom of a long, traffic-filled commute, he soon began carpooling with some co-workers.

However, in spite of this effort to relax, he began to develop very sore wrists. It was really noticeable to him as he exited the long drive through the dangerous tunnel each day. The pain soon became excruciating, so he broke down and visited his doctor. He was surprised when his doctor told him his condition was really quite common: he had carpool tunnel syndrome!
