Many of you, I know, consider Philippians to be your favorite book in the Bible. If so, then you should like to know that this coming Sunday morning’s sermon (10/16), God willing, is from Acts 16:11-40 and deals with Paul and Silas’ experience in starting the church in Philippi. And what a start it had! Paul and Silas confront a fortune-teller, cast out an evil spirit from a possessed girl, get flogged and thrown into prison by the civil authorities for doing such and are finally (miraculously) released from imprisonment, all of which lead to the conversion of the jailer and (his family) Christ. And that’s only part of the story! What a trip! The title of this sermon is What God’s Good News Does.
