Hurricane evacuee shelters in Baytown

Are you one of the many Louisiana residents trying to get out of the path of Hurricane Katrina? The Missouri Street Church of Christ, the church that I minister with, is not serving as a shelter at this time; however, we are on “stand by” status as a possible future shelter. We are supporting evacuees by supporting the two existing shelters at this time here in Baytown.

At the present time, those two shelters are the Baytown Community Center at 2407 Market St. (which we’ve received word just a moment ago is now at overflowing capacity – Tues., 2:30 p.m.) and the Memorial Baptist Church at 600 W. Sterling St. Both of these locations are in Baytown. Baytown is located at the extreme east edge of the greater Houston area.

Mont Belvieu is located on I-10 just to the northeast of Baytown. Be advised that the Mont Belvieu Red Cross shelter located at 11607 Eagle Drive has reached its maximum capacity.

May God be with you.

You can contact the Houston Red Cross regarding locations of all shelters in the Houston area via phone at: 866-GET-INFO (866-438-4636).
